Gas Street Social is located in the upmarket Mailbox complex, but its vibe is friendly and approachable. The interiors are a blend of cosy and trendy, combining industrial chic with rustic farmhouse.
Long benches and communal seating arrangements underline the social ethos of the restaurant and bar, with sharing boards and tapas-style small plates a prominent feature of the food menu.
Group enjoyment of drinks is equally encouraged, with several cocktail options available as big bottle servings for four. One such favourite is the refreshing Cooler’s a Cucumber (£37.50), containing Sauza Blanca tequila, apple, lemon and cucumber.
In a nod to local history, the Lunar Society is named after an elite group of Birmingham intellectuals, and its suitably elevated ingredients include Chambord black raspberry liqueur, gin, strawberries and sparkling rose.
If you prefer to keep your drinks to yourself, individual cocktails come in at £7.50 - £9 each.
