The gardens of the Torre de les Aigües are no longer the 'Beach of the Eixample', but they are still a good place to rest in the shade away from the noise of the city. They're also a testimony to the history of the city: built in 1870 by architect Josep Oriol Mestres and engineer Antoni Darder, the water tower served to distribute drinking water to the first buildings in the Eixample expansion.
