This is an impressive mini golf course that holds appeal for fun-loving adults as much as children (there’s a bar, after all). The 18-hole course has the usual challenges and tricks. You’ll also find a clubhouse serving snacks – oh, and there’s jazz on Thursday evenings.

This is a remarkable place for children under 12 who love to be spoiled rotten. The large safety- conscious play area is great to expend energy, but the part the little girls tend to love is inside the beauty parlour. There’s a play area outside and video games, books and toys to play with. Food such as burgers and pizzas are available. There’s a one-off charge for the play area.

Let the kids loose in this air- conditioned play area where they can clamber over the climbing gym and leap into the ball pen; the techno- inclined among them will love the computers and Nintendo games console. Prices are based on an hourly rate.

Football and swimming for kids available at Lizzy's Sports Complex. They sometimes run special kids activities so call and ask if any are on. 

Something a bit more exciting to do with the kids. Go-karting. There is also a really great playground and the staff are helpful and friendly. A clean venue too. Labadi Beach has always been one of the classiest hotels in Ghana – it’s arguably the most high-end of the lot, as the photos of visiting dignitaries attest. But in the light of new openings, it has had to up its game. The main changes are out the back, with a new and incredibly inviting pool and a full new conference and events centre. Also upgraded is the gym. The hotel has retained its classic cool – the lobby alone is all ceiling fans, dark leather sofas and gold-coloured standing lamps. The pristine rooms and suites, all fairly recently renovated, each come with a private balcony. There are also floodlit tennis courts, a volleyball court and table-tennis facilities. Sauna and massage services are available too. The resort has two bars and a restaurant.

For the little ones there’s a tumble-tots class. The on-site Mandy Fouracre Dance Academy has a programme for children between three and seven, and jazz and ballet for ages seven to 18.

Backed by 16 acres of palm-studded grounds and a sweeping azure pool, Accra’s luxury bolthole remains one of the finest. The rooms, as you’d expect from this Swiss chain, are well designed and appointed – they come highly recommended, but it’s the additional extras that makes this hotel buzz. Waiters on in-line skates glide across the gleaming patio, supplying fresh snacks and icy drinks to holidaymakers stretched out on loungers around the pool. An onsite luxury shopping centre is filled with high-end goods, from catwalk fashions at Fifth Avenue to Afrocentric art at Joe’s Perspective. Elsewhere, Sankofa restaurant pleases with an array of international flavours, and the newly-refurbished one2one cocktail lounge expertly whips up any requested tipple. There’s a superb Deli by the shopping galleries, and the restaurant is becoming popular too. It’s also worth saying that the breakfast is one of the best in the city right now.
