Royal Senchi

If you want to discover the Eastern Region, this is the place to stay. The Royal Senchi, one-and-a-half hours drive from Accra, is a beautiful resort – peaceful and comfortable, with everything conspiring to make this a relaxing stay. The resort sits alongside the often mirror-flat Volta river, that serves as the view for all 84 rooms and suites. The rooms themselves have character, with beds facing large patio doors that open onto small private terraces or balconies. Above and behind them are large baths, with privacy screens that can be pulled open if you want a soak with a view. Suites also have large lounge areas. The main restaurant serves a Ghanaian-centric buffet in the evenings alongside a more international a la carte menu – there’s lots of quality cooking, and the service is refreshingly keen.
You’ll find two bars, one overlooking an inviting pool and Jacuzzi. There are also immaculately maintained tennis courts, a gym, a spa, a small shop and a business centre, and coming soon is a new golf driving range with putting green and a sports bar.
This is certainly one of the most beautiful areas of Ghana and taking a boat trip along the river from the hotel to the Akosombo dam is well worth the time. For leisure getaways from Accra, and as a place to discover one of Ghana’s most interesting regions, it’s an excellent option
