Milkshakes that will make you feel like a kid again

There's something about drinking a milkshake that immediately makes you revert back to your 12-year-old self. Maybe it's because your mom dubbed it a special treat; maybe it's because you always seemed to have it at a diner, where the glow of neon lights fell onto your burger and fries as you gobbled down dinner after soccer practice. There are plenty of fantastic shakes around LA, but we found a few souped-up versions that seem to bring out the inner child in everyone. Now where's a straw?

Mother Fluffer at Tipsy CowIf fluffernutter sandwiches were your jam when you were a kid, this shake will give you the "I have the best lunch at school" feels all over again. At this Sherman Oaks gastropub, vanilla and fluff are blended together, then topped with a perfectly toasted marshmallow. You can try saving that 'mallow for the end, but it won't last too long. $8 (Add booze for an extra $5.)

Bacon milkshake at Pono Burger: For those times when you want a milkshake for breakfast, Pono Burger's bacon milkshake is totally justifiable. So what if it's made with vanilla ice cream and topped with caramel sauce? It's also topped with homemade bacon bits, and everyone knows that bacon is for breakfast. So there, Mom. $8

Chocolate milkshake at The Fountain Coffee Room: Don't be intimidated by The Fountain Coffee Room's ritzy location in the Beverly Hills Hotel. The historic setting may seem like its for grown-ups, but plunk its signature chocolate milkshake down on the curved soda fountain counter and you'll instantly feel like a kid again, slurping up homemade chocolate ice cream topped with a dollop of whipped cream. $10

The Big One at Twins Sliders: This milkshake costs $18.99, and before you're all like, "why the hell would I pay almost $20 for a milkshake?" it's because pretty much every candy on this planet is thrown into this baby. Choose your base—chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or date—and then sit back as the following are piled on top: fudge brownies, Oreos, Captain Crunch, graham crackers, M&M's, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, marshmallows, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Butterfingers, cookie dough and an entire Twinkie. You'll probably want to share this with eight other people. $18.99
